CBR has an interview up with Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato, in which they discuss both Flash #0's origin story for Barry and the upcoming Gorilla Warfare story arc. It's a good read...and hints at some upcoming (but unidentified) surprises to be found. Here's the link to the article: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40879

It has been interesting how I've seen, in various places online, fandom freaking out over seeing Barry's origin and that DC is making Barry have a more tragic/Batman style origin. Honestly, I don't get this impression. Sure, they ported over his mother's death from the Flashpoint era. However, it seems like most everything else is the same and that they are just fleshing it out and putting their own spin to it.
I'm perfectly fine with that. When was the last time Barry's origin was actually told in any detail. Sometime during the Bronze age? It is ripe for an update. After all, how many times has Batman or Superman gotten an origin revamp/update/expansion? Seems like a new one comes out every 5-10 years (even more in Supes's case).
I trust these guys to do something new, but staying true to the character. After all, they've been proving they can do this for a year now.
