So I've pretty much sworn off the New 52 after Forever Evil, but I am still following Justice League because I want to see what Captain Cold does. Justice League #35, drawn by Scott Kolins, threw me for a loop, though. It opens on Superman and Lex Luthor battling Gorilla Grodd for no apparent reason. Grodd also looks and acts like his pre-New 52 version — lacking his cape and helmet, and, most importantly, his super speed, which made him so formidable in Forever Evil. Last I saw of Grodd, the Rogues had trapped him in Mirror World. Is there some issue that explains how he got out and/or lost his super speed? The cynic in me believes that Geoff Johns simply told Kolins to throw in any villain he wanted for Superman and Luthor to battle and Kolins just fell back on the old version of Grodd he used to do, probably because he hasn't been paying attention to the New 52.

I hadn't even thought of that, but you have a real point here.
