Hey all, I started this around this time last year when we first started hearing Wally was going to be disavowed from Dc's New Universe Every Month, Specifically the week and day the next new Flash comic was released I'd Post a Wally-Centric quote or a link to an issue from Wally's run.. Here, i mean to do the same thing but with a bit more flair as we can post images here (unlike those lousy msg boards DC had that were crawling with Trolls, Flamers and company suck-ups (Not TOO bitter am i? ) Of Course today we'll start with Wally's first issue as the Star of FLASH[/b] "Barry Allen was the previous Flash. He died to save the world. I'm wearing his costume. Makes me feel like I'm wearing his skin. Barry would help anyone, anytime. He taught me that my abilities were a precious trust. He died owing thousands of dollars in legal bills. The Justice League had to pay for his funeral. He left me his costumes and a picture of what a hero should be."

Wow that takes me back! I remember buying the first Wally Flash #1...at the time he was limited to the speed of sound and was trying to find his way. Very cool to see a copy of that cover here - thanks!

Hopefully sharing the love will make more people interested in him and ask for him back!
Also, golddragon, have you sent DC a letter with your concerns about Wally? It probably won't help much in the long run, but it might help a bit, and might make you feel better. I mailed a letter to Dan DiDio some weeks back, politely saying I'd dropped the current Flash title, and explaining why. Who knows if he read it, but hopefully somebody at DC did.

given the kind of answers we've gotten through direct contact (folks asking at cons etc... i haven't held too much Hope on a single letter faring any better. I myself have also dropped Flash if for no other reason than the mere fact that the title doesn't excite me the way Wally's run did in the early to mid 90's. (if I can't get emotionally invested in the characters the title dies faster than Kenny in a South Park episode)

The way I figured it is that they know it takes a decent amount of effort to physically mail a letter, and are more likely to take it seriously than something else. I know they aren't going to bring back the Top because I wrote a letter, but at least they know that somebody out there is unhappy and stopped buying their product. I guess it's different for me because they probably assume there aren't any Top fans while they know there are Wally fans.
Anyway, it's an idea.

ANYWAY!!!!! It's that Time Again! Now this week is gonna be heavy on imagry and info as I've been doing a lot of Who's Who Scanning in the last week (See the Villans section!) First of course is the Man himself Wally West AKA THE FLASH!!![/i] His Best Friends....No. Not Kyle Rayner and Connor Hawke! and of course his extended family..... and of course! One cannot forget his mentor. The Man who gave his life to save the multiverse The Original C.S.I.! HEY! I LIKE BARRY! Just because i'm angry about Wally getting the shaft doesn't mean I wasn't more than happy to have Barry come back. But let's not forget! the best seeds towards Barry's return were planted in Wally's Run! and in all honesty, I have to say the Barry Allen we have now is a faint echo of the true Barry allen we lost in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. One last thing before we go. I was as saddened as anyone last month when i heard about the tragedy in Colorado. and while i really wanted to put this up right then and there I have to admit I wasn't really sure where i could put it in an outlet that was appropriate. Add to that, the fact that I really didn't have the means to post it in the immediate days following (technical difficulties primarily) Here's Wally showing how he dealt with a gunman in a movie theater

SPECIAL UPDATE: Since We get the Annual this week on Barry's current run I thought i'd do an Extra Wally-Centric Post This week of course starts out with Comixology's latest offerings Flash (1987-2006) #'s 110-111 as well as Impulse #12 (pictured Below) I think I have Comixology figured out. but i won't know for sure until Monday when they post next week's back issues It's my theory that Next week they'll return to Flash #50 and continue on from there while continuing Impulse's back issues as well. When Impulse reaches the next crossover (I believe it's Chain Lightning) They will start jump ahead again to Flash #145 9or just before (the Cobalt blue storyline that started Chain Lightning actually starts in Flash #143 hopefully we'll get as far as Flash #62-65 (Flash: Born to Run) by then. EDIT: Well looks like I was right! and Boy are we getting a jump this week Comixology is giving us Five issues of the Flash First #50-53 Which finishes off the Vandal savage two-parter, introduces Wally's reflective suit and sees him joining the IRS. On top of that we have Issue 80 which introduces Flash fans to the art of the Late-Great, Mike Wieringo as well as being the starting off point for the three part story we got during Comixology's Nightwing sale a few weeks back. In other news, I recently picked up the JLA 12' Flash Figure at my LCS While, i'm not a huge fan of 12" scale figures I felt that with Wally's Persona non grata Status with current DC Leadership It would be a good idea to show off Wally's Various plastic incarnations. Total Justice Flash JLA Flash 12" JLA Flash Of course, the standard JLA Flash is really just a repaint and I lost the Fractal Tech Gear that came with Total Justice Flash some time ago. Just to balance the Trio I put Total justice Flash on a stand from one of the JLA Superman figures that came out later. I was going to poist the 12" to match his Smaller brothers but It just didn't fit so i ddcided to go with a BVP instead. I also noted that 12" Flash has the brighter color scheme of his little brother from Total justice rather than the con-currently released JLA incarnation

Wally would have no use for the current Barry.

Well,....... ...... is upon us once again! Of Course this Month is special as it's DC return to the Zero Month Concept (as opposed to calling it.... The New52, Year One! Or...... the New 52 One Year Later..... hmmmm OK Let's be fair. Sometimes we don't need originality. We Just need to go back to the well.) That being said I doubt this Flash #0 will lead into as much of a game-changing storyline as it's predecessor. (But I have been wrong before.) So let's look at Wally West's Zero Issue (Warning! For Those who never read Flash #0 from the 1987-2006 run..... I basically give the whole thing away! i'm lousy with spoilers on older books! If you want to be surprised read the book first!) Now aside from leading into the game changing Terminal Velocity (which would radically redefine the nature and source of Flash's powers (along with all the other speedsters) This issue is not much more than a quick Blurb for lack of a better term, on Wally's origin into how he became Kid Flash and eventually The Flash. However, it does give us a quick "I was the mysterious stranger" moment (That J.K. Rowling would later Rip off in the Third Harry Potter book) that explained to Wally a memory he had from his pre-Kid Flash days and it ended (as it should) the way most Flash comics began at the time P.S. Yeah i know I posted this way early but I've come down with an end of summer/start of Fall cold (my Dad blames my Niece!) and I'm crashing early

SPECIAL REPORT!!!!![/b] Well, ordinarily I'd wait til the Next release of Faux-Barry's current Run but due to the special nature of this week's release on Comixology I thought it was only fitting to address it Three Big events came out with the following two issues (Flash 3rd series #s 72-73 as if you didn't know) Wally and Linda become serious Jay Garrick makes his first appearance since the Crisis On Infinite Earths (Actually, Jays return (along with the rest of the Justice Society) was shown in Armageddon: Inferno but Comixology has not yet made that series available to download.) Finally the Return of........ Well, the whole Return of Barry Allen storyline is how Comixology's focus on the Wally West Run started so we've really come full circle today. The interesting thing to see is how Comixology will progress from here. Logically they should move on with Issue 84 and start to fill in the gaps between the various storylines released so far (or at least until Impulse hit's issue 43 after which begins the whole Cobalt Blue/Chain Lightning Storyline. Well, I'll see you on WWAD.

Hey all, Well it seems Comixology has decided to put the Flash on Hiatus for a time. After my special report a few weeks ago, in which we were brought back up to date with the issues leading into The Return of Barry Allen, Comixology has decided to instead focus their attention on Green Lantern particularly the run from 1990-2004. Now does this mean i'll stop running WWADs? HELL NO!!!!!![/u][/b] sorry.... But No. I will continue to support limbo-ized speedster and I will continue to keep watch for releases related to him. Now, as I said a few weeks ago Impulse, is rapidly approaching his 45th issues which immediately precedes Chain Lightning (A Major Flash storyline between Flash and Impulse) I'm hoping we'll see both sides of the adventure (honestly, Comixology could have timed their Flash hiatus a little better or at least, put it off for a few weeks/months) Now then, all that out of the way...I do have a confession to make... My most recent attention has NOT been entirely on Wally West...not that I'm losing interest or feeling all alone here....but this is a BOND year and so I've been watching all of the 007 films as well as the newest film SKYFALL (btw it's really great I wouldn't call it THE BEST BOND EVER!!!! but it's definitely the best Daniel Craig Bond so far) Also the two most recent releases of JLU 3-packs have shifted my attention more towards Wally's colleagues in Justice League International's American embassy (i.e. Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Fire, Ice, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Mister Miracle.....etc.) here's my full JLU-style JLI (1987-90) hmmmm I don't know why the pic is so small but here's the link to see it full sized i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz286/Lantern2814_20850/IMG_0107.jpg....ok that was weird it came out upside down when I clicked on it..... The internet...just when you have things figured...... Anyway I've also been reading some of the various Justice League Quarterly issues and I found one that was really great Ted Kord (The Blue Beetle) is going on a blind date....(a blind date provided by Mama Muzatzka's Casa De Romance Home of the "Double-your-love-back Guarantee") of course, sitting in the restaurant is Wally West (Flash) Booster Gold (out of costume) and Fire (in costume...guess she burned up her wardrobe again)....Anyway, Ted's date is a hair stylist who works for a mortician (she gives corpses perms so they can look nice in the caskets) Flash is obsessing over another person in the restaurant who looks and dresses like the Tattooed Man (an old Green Lantern Villain) and Booster has cold drink migraines while Fire berates him for spying on his best friend's blind date)..... I won't spoil the ending for for you because A I'm a sweet guy, and B words don't do it justice! It's in Justice League Quarterly 10 Check it out (besides that issue also has the really cool Flash story where Wally is trapped in a glass elevator while he witnesses an assassination attempt on the District Attorney)

Hey all, is Back! and this month, it comes back in grand style as we get almost a complete major storyline to celebrate! first Flash 86 finishes off the Razer storyline that started in Flash 84 with Wally re-teaming with his less than favorite colleague Argus (introduced in the Bloodlines annual Argus is also taken with Wally's girlfriend Linda Park much to Wally's annoyance Linda doesn't tell Argus to take a hike!) Then after a seemingly harmless Christmas adventure Wally is served with a subpoena that charges him with negligence in his duties Wally's life is turned upside down when he finds he failed to save someone from being horribly burned and crippled during one of the attacks by Razer If they ever gave this a TPB a good title might be Razer and ReprecussionsI believe that the Next issue concludes the storyline (I won't give away who's behind the whole scheme) and then in Issue 91 we'll see what happens when you combine two heroes speed powers.

HERE I COME TO SAVE THEwell, something like that anyway! I kinda had a slight financial miscalculation this past week so I won't be icluding the current releases from our friends at Comixology (although I might slip them in on Friday so stay tuned! First a quick word. Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here but i've mentioned before why I do this. It's largely because I really didn't like Geoff Johns, Dan Didio(t) (btw that's pronounced De-Idiot! for anyone who was unclear) and company for ditching a very long tenured character like Wally West and keeping his colleague and best bud Kyle Rayner virtually unscathed. (If anything Kyle not only survived Flashpoint unchanged he actually benefitted from it considerably!.........and btw I AM a Kyle fan guys!) I also am annoyed that Barry Allen himself is so completely changed from his Classical history. I might even have kept on reading his book if they had had the good sense to keep him with Iris West. But this new 52 Barry we currently are faced with bears only superficial resemblance to the Barry Allen I knew and respected prior to Rebirth (let alone Flashpoint!) At first I understood the desire TPTB had for re-setting the DCU (as the TPTB had when they reset it Post-Crisis!) they wanted to shake up the status quo they wanted to draw in a new readership and they wanted most of all to put their own stamp on characters they had grown up with. I'm all for that really! I am! However TPTB that were in charge of things post Crisis in 1987 never p!$$ed on the fans of the existing characters. When DC decided to make Wally the Flash they did it out of necessity (Barry Allen was dead after all!. Since they didn't want Wally to have to play sidekick anymore, they also took away the other character that would have become a mentor to Wally in Jay Garrick by putting Jay and the rest of the JSA in a literal Limbo fighting a demon for all eternity (or six years whichever came first!) Now, however, I've lost a lot of my old faith in DC and am buying almost no new titles per month! I'm hoping that there are other DC fans out there doing something similar (There's got to be some sales analyst at DC who will notice a huge upward spike in digital sales of older pre-Didio(t) issues of DC comics and fewer post-Flashpoint sales) As I said last year when I began this! My intention is never to Bash Barry Allen or his fans. Don't forget! Wally West is the ULTIMATE[/U][/B] Barry Allen Fan! (Still, i wish they'd put Barry back in his Classic suit!) My intention is always to keep Wally West alive! Even if only in our hearts! Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong!

I'm also a big Wally fan (have been since I was a kid in the 1960's and saw Wally in the first official appearance of the Teen Titans). It is my hope that they can bring Wally back in some fashion too, and I truly enjoy this thread for bringing back so many good memories of a great character. The only issues I would take here would be just a reminder of how I felt as a fan with they killed Barry and shipped the JSA to limbo.
When Barry died, he was not the signature death of the series - Supergirl was. His death was more in the line of "Barry brought us in to the Silver Age, and in case anyone is wondering, he's taking us officially out of the Silver Age, so there!" I took some comfort in seeing Wally take over...except that they limited him at first to the speed of sound and gave him the world's biggest case of the munchies to keep his speed going. And, when he won the lottery they turned him into a bit of a jerk for a while. Worse still was taking my favorite Earth 2 Justice Society characters (including Jay) and just throwing them into limbo - it didn't make a lot of sense to do so with such rich characters. There was a LOT of weird and wacky things that came out of CoIE - and that's even before we get to the "pocket universe" that explained the Superboy the Legion followed (that's the same "pocket universe" that gave us the shape-changing Supergirl we had for several years). In other words, the initial DCU after CoIE was a bit of a mess........
Until they got their act together. Wally was allowed to move to full speed, they brought in the Speed Force to explain his powers, they let him mature and become the excellent, even iconic character Wally became. It took time, but it did work. All the more shame that they couldn't keep him in continuity.
They could keep Superman with Superboy and Supergirl and Krypto....They could keep Hal and John and Guy and Kyle and thousands of other GLs...They could put a Bat-something on every street corner in every burg in the world...but we couldn't have Wally along with Barry? I still don't get that.
Sooooo.....a couple of things here. I do hope they bring Wally back, and soon. Maybe the upcoming Multiversity series could provide a way through for Wally and Donna and Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain and all the others who are offically "not here".
.....and, before you give up completely on the New52 Barry for the reasons stated, you might want to pick up the latest issue out today. Barry's relationship with Patty may be stronger than ever...but still there's an interesting twist you may be interested in reading.

I just realized I missed a month of Sorry bout that! anyway we have lot's of stuff going on this month to make up for it. First of all Wally manages to clear himself from the Lawsuit as well as prove that Abra Kadabra was behind almost everything that happened. Wally then goes to Johnny Quick to learn Johnny's formula for speed so that he can be anywhere he's needed at once. Then in... Wally tests the formula in an accident at the Keystone central bridge, Time stops completely. after a few minutes of puzzlement, Max Mercury appears (apparently able to move at a very high rate of speed himself ) and walks Wally through the city showing him that no matter how fast he moves he still can't save everyone It's with these issues that we're brought all the way up to date with the next three issues that tell Bart Allens Origin followed by the Zero issue (shown above) and of course Terminal Velocity. After TV Wally and Linda have a few troubles in their relationship regarding Linda's doubts about her being able to relate to Wally as a person when his powers have been elevated to an almost godly degree. this storyline finishes just in time for Wally to reach 105 and fittingly this comic has a cover that homages Barry's first issue of his own series and of course this leads us back up to Dead Heat (also listed above (And am i the only one getting headaches from all the back and forth jumping Comixology has been doing?

Here we come upon another So despite a few speed bumps this past month, (and those watching Young Justice know what I mean by THAT![/b]) Wally's still got his fandom and it's still going strong. His DCUC figure is due out in about two short months (I was right before when I said it was going to be a LOOOOOONNNNGGGG!!!!!! Winter!) and Comixology has largely filled in many of the gaps in Wally's run meaning that you can take most of Wally's better (and most defining stories) with you wherever you go thanks to the DC App (which beats the old bit of dragging around a couple of dozen trade paperbacks) (ok a shameless plug but I'm a huge fan of Comixology's service) There are a few hiccups here and there. For some reason they seemed to have stopped short of finishing the follow-up story to Dead Heat (referred to in Trade paperback form as Race against Time) and started in on the Flash of two cities storyline where Wally has been basically licked out of Keystone because the town can't afford to keep up the repairs on itself after every supervillain attack that wally has be a....err, RUN!! out of town....(heh! sorry, original closing on that sentence sounded bad!) also Comixology kind of fell asleep at the wheel the last couple of weeks in regards to their back issue offerings due to some problems they had while attending a comic convention of all things! (priorities People!!!!) here's the two most recent issues available Still, all that aside They've kept Wally alive in some way or another and that's way more than anyone else (officially) associated with DC has done in the last year (Mattel's Wally Flash figure notwithstanding!) Which Brings me to this Month's Bad News section (and I really try to avoid putting this on a WWAD post but my bloods boiling and I gotta let it out! ONCE AGAIN!!!, Wally's loyal following takes it in the afterburners! I have been saying for months, particularly since Bart's debut in Young Justice, that, while I wouldn't like to see Young Justice end. I did have a season's closing in mind for the Flash family in particular. Bart, at Wally's urging, adopts the costume and name of Kid Flash Wally intends to drop super-heroing and go off to live with Artemis again..... However! before he can leave the base, Wally is stopped by Barry who announces his own semi-retirement citing Iris's pregnancy with the potentially super-fast tornado twins. Barry then hands Wally a new costume Ring that reveals a full on Flash uniform and urges Wally to join the Justice League as the New Flash...... would have been a great ending wouldn't it? Instead someone in charge decided to pour salt in our collective wounds by killing Wally off (not only that, but they basically killed off Wally the way Wolfman and Perez killed off Barry in COIE) Now I'm not bitter...they could have killed him and made it seem essentially unimportant. They did at least give Wally a heroic death and gave his friends and family time to mourn onscreen. STILL!!!![/b] I MEAN, REALLY!!!!!![/B] HAVEN'T WE SUFFERED ENOUGH?!?!?[/b] Wally gets reduced to atoms and isn't even left with a coda that gives some kind of eventual hope for his return?!? I mean, a few years after Barry was killed, they showed that he actually became the lightning bolt that gave him his powers. fans started in on that with all sorts of ways to bring Barry out of the loop either for one more run or in a more permanent basis. and eventually we got one that made some kind of sense (although I never did figure out how Thawne was responsible for that as he claimed! He wasn't even part of Final Crisis!) Well, see you folks next Month! hopefully we'll have started or even finished Chain Lightning by that point!

Well, no Angry rants this time guys. (Mainly because there haven't been any recent developments that have caused me to fly off the handle in a blood boiling rage.) The other day i got my new Metalix Flash symbol t-shirt I had to order it from a second party as Graphitti no longer carries them in stock. I wrote them a letter asking why but they have yet to respond So I'm happily wearing it as my "Wally-Flash" shirt Today Comixology finishes off the Wally West Exile storyline. (They never gave the storyline a proper name or a trade so call it what you will.) Wally has to make a deal with Neron to save Keystone from the Rogues and their power avatars but Linda has already beaten him to it. I'll let you guys read through and figure things out from there. at this point we're still not up to Chain Lightning Comixology had pre-empted Race against Time to do this storyline I've given up trying to guess ahead of them as it seems that when I think they'll go one way they do a complete 180 and head off in the opposite direction (who knows? next week they might just start running more Silver Age Flash books!) Now I'm sure some of you have seen my most recent post in the 52 Ways to Bring Wally Back thread and are wondering..." Has this guy been turned?!? does he now embrace the New52?!?" Short answer is no. What happened is that I saw a post on SpeedForce.org's facebook Wall showing a pro-Wally Fan wearing a T-Shirt that said Mark Waid was Right. Of Course, a shirt like this will draw out the most vehement detractors and their usual rhetoric of "Get Over it! Barry was the only Flash that Mattered..... Wally was nothing without Barry being there first!..... blah blah blah!" The primary post that made me sit up and develop the new idea was a Pro-Barry Fan saying that the only way Wally "Zealots" would be happy is if Wally came back at Barry's expense. I responded with this: Michael Kramer: I'm one of the most vocal Pro-Wally fans around and I've always said that NO ONE!! NOT. ONE. SINGLE. PERSON! Was as happy to have Barry Allen come back as Wally West was! and when Wally raised the Subject, ... So I'm sick of all this either/or crap! There's no ONE TRUE FLASH! Barry has been gone for twenty-five years or so our time so he does deserve a Lion's share in the spotlight Being the lead in the Flagship Flash title Makes sense. Maybe even re-number them so they recognize the original numbering from when Flash left off in '85 (or was it 86?) (Wally was gonna sit back and relax anyway he was going to concentrate on being a dad) Another aspect is, if they HAD to change things for the New 52 They COULD HAVE changed it so that both Barry and Wally could co-exist! there's no reason they couldn't have altered Wally's history the way they altered Barry's. They could have made Wally a young intern or "Lab-Rat" ala Greg Sanders when Barry got his powers Barry could have been Wally's Gil Grissom and when Wally was hit in the same kind of accident that made Barry the Flash it could have Made Wally another Flash not "Kid Flash" mind you Flash Mach 2 or something to that effect. Wally could have kept his relationship with Linda with only a few variants in how they got together and there's no reason he couldn't have met and become friends with dick Grayson at college or something.. My biggest gripe as a Flash fan from way back is that the only thing that's the same about Barry (since Flashpoint!) is the crew-cut, the job and the city (and he doesn't even have the job anymore!!) In the old days, Iris was the Love of Barry's life. patty was his co-worker, and his parents were alive and well. Now, Iris is barely a friend to Barry, Patty is his girlfriend, his Mom is dead, his dad's in prison and it seems his dad wasn't even his dad anymore! So Yeah, in My View, There's MORE than enough room for two Flash's in the same Universe (I'd go so far as to say there's Room for ALL THREE!!! But that's a rant for another time!) as Barry said in the linked pic above, THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!! As I warmed to the subject of Wally and Barry co-existing in the New 52 I started thinking about tricks they could play. like pretending there was in Fact, Just One Flash that was doing all the work when in reality there were two. (Having Wally adopt the exact same uniform as Barry to help with the trick) and also allowing them to have Wally and Flash appear together or have Barry and Flash appear together when someone were to get "too close' to unmasking the secret identities (It always puzzled me that Superman didn't call on Martian Manhunter more often for problems of this sort with Lois back in the Day) Now recent announcements in the big Three interviews about the New Reverse Flash show that Barry will be returning to the Crime Lab in short time. We May Yet have reason to Hope. (if Barry was stuck bartending the rest of his life that idea's down the drain) Well, that's it for this month's rant hope to see you next time!
