Now that we have confirmation of the return of Earth-2, what are your thoughts?
As for me, I grew up in the pre-Crisis era, looking forward to the annual JLA/JSA matchups. It was easy for a kid like me to accept the multiple earths, and my favorite stories would involve not only Jay Garrick, but Alan Scott and the E-2 Supes and Robin (after he took over for the departed Batman of Earth-2).
The concept is actually appealing to me today, for both nostalgic reasons and for logistics when looking at the DCnU. After all, if the JSA worked (even in secret) during WW II, they would be a group of 80 and 90 year old heroes and heroines, and we would be soon looking at 100 year-old "superheroes", trying to explain how they could still be operating in today's world. Setting them up in an alternate Earth means we can simply play with the timeline in that world, having the JSA be any age we wish them to be. It also allows a LOT of freedom in plotting their adventures, and in placing characters who no longer "fit" in the DCnU in a place where they can thrive.
I don't know if this has any meaning for Wally West or Donna Troy (or anyone else who was originally Earth-1 during the Silver Age), but at least for the Golden Age folks there is a chance to put them in a place to let them truly shine. In that respect, I would like to see the generational aspect of recent stories continue - I'd like to see the younger generation of JSA'ers have their place.
At any rate - what are your thoughts? Are you glad to see Earth-2 make a comeback? Do you wish they had kept everyone one one main Earth? What do YOU want to see from the upcoming E-2 series? Please add your thoughts here!
