These days you can classify all DC character pretty much in three categories Magic, Meta Gene , or Tech (including alien tech). You can go into detail like batman has super intellect and yadda yadda but pretty much everything fits into these.
Now heres a little problem i was having i was trying to put flash into meta gene cuz the lighting stuck and his body was adapted you know the story but i fell like with the speed force adds a magical element wouldnt you say.
soooo what im asking of you great people is yeil at me tell i can figure this out.

Your ancestors called it magic; you call it science; where I come from, they're one and the same.
I've just re-read Flash 7, 8 and 9, and I really got a kick out having three different people explain the Flash's powers in three different ways. Elias worked from the point of view of a scientist, Turbine from first-hand experience, and the gorilla elders from an almost religious perspective of stories being passed down for generations. Although there were some major differences in each of their stories, the basic elements are the same, and I think the real truth behind the Flash's powers lie somewhere between them all.
I personally don't consider the Speed Force as a magical source of power like Shazam's, for example, but at the same time it feels too grand and mysterious for contemporary science to comprehend. So I guess you could say there are arguments to the Flash fitting in all three categories (with Tech for his suit he created), and I think that's what makes Flash such a great character. There's a little bit for everyone.

I like that explanation for the Flash' powers. There really is a little bit of everything in there. And yes, the Flash is the best!

First we have to explain what is "magic". Even Thor is not very clear on that point...

There is an explanation for magic on Earth 2 in the latest issue of that series. Wotan explains it for the readers. However, I don't know if that also applies to the main DC Earth, as we already know science and physics work slightly differently in the two worlds.

I'm hesitant to qualify Barry as having a meta-gene. It's in the same vein of the argument for Oliver Queen being a meta-human due to his exceptional archery skills versus him simply training hard to achieve the same results. (Bruce can be tossed into this argument as well)
I like the current mythos of the Speed Force being involved in giving him his powers. I don't think it's an mystical source of power, but it certainly is mythical, especially seeing as how the gorillas view it, as you said, with an almost religious fervor.
Also the intriguing bit that the Speed Force may somehow be sentient, choosing it's anointed vessels.
Plus, if Wally could receive the exact same powers through the same exact accident, then him and Barry both have the same exact meta-gene?
Things that make you go hmmm.........
