You're 100% correct, Sir! To quote.....well, You:
"What impresses me is the way this creative team can provide so many twists without making it seem forced, and while maintaining the level of energy in both the lead character and the story itself. I truly cannot wait to see what happens next. As for the artwork, once again Manapul and Booch continue to set a standard for visual storytelling, with impressive visuals throughout. I love their unique layouts of the pages, and the integration of sound effects into the overall artwork. The visuals drive the storyline as much as the words…you can’t just flip through this book."
My thoughts exactly!!

Every time I flip open the cover of any of the "New 52" Flash issues, I am so overcome with the jaw-droppingly awesome artwork that Manapul & Buccellato could tell me that the Speed Force generates French Vanilla coffee creamer and removes vowels from sentences and I'd be....."ahhhhh! The art is sooooo great! French Vanilla & no 'E's....that's cool, dude! Look, they tell a story just by drawing his name....so beautiful! (getting teary-eyed)"
Seriously though, Dr. Elias is making a theorized statement which has yet to be proven....so it always gives Manapul & Buccellato the "out" of whatever they have planned with it.

I think the vagueness is on purpose, and that they probably have "ditched" the "My name's Barry and I AM the Speed Force".....which is probably a good thing. I love Geoff Johns' writing, but I was "iffy" on Barry "creating" the Speed Force.
It allows for creators (both Manapul/Buccellato & any future ones) to explore The Flash Universe for themselves rather than be "locked" into some story arc. This is; from my understanding, the entire point of the "New 52".....and I'm enjoying it! Manapul & Buccellato have stuck to the basic attributes & origin of The Flash, while exploring some different things along the way and introducing some ideas that may be put into use in the future. It's very cool and fun to debate!

I agree....but when I read articles like that, I take it with a grain of salt....it's obviously NOT a comic-book genre site, but rather a college site for geeks. Nothing wrong with that, but the opinions are based on getting attention rather than any intelligent analysis.
That said, and as you pointed out in your rebuttal....when you have 3 categories you must fill the 3 categories. It appears to me that the writer just searched wikipedia, and doesn't really have that much knowledge of what he was writing about.

I was wondering what everyone is still collecting 6 months into the "not-so-New 52"....
I'm still collecting Deathstroke, Flash, Green Arrow, New Guardians, O.M.A.C., Red Lanterns, & The Savage Hawkman in monthly format.
Dropped Aquaman (may collect as Graphic Novel) & I, Vampire. Sad to see O.M.A.C. cancelled after issue #8....
Waiting on Green Lantern, Justice League, & maybe Dark Knight to collect in Graphic Novel format....have decided not to collect GL Corps.
So all-in-all, 6 months in I'm a -3 (when O.M.A.C. ends). How about You?

........Green Lantern titles (except Red Lanterns)..... In my opinion, Red Lanterns is the best of the 4 right now!!

I have really loved O.M.A.C. so far.....the One Machine Attack Construct has a "Kirby-ish" feel to it, both in writing and art, and when you read the issues you can see that DiDio & Giffen are having fun.
Brother Eye (Yes, the satellite in space created by Batman, who became sentient in O.M.A.C. Project leading into Infinite Crisis, and was later seen in Countdown to Final Crisis) chooses Kevin Kho as his "feet on the ground" so-to-speak, complete with blinking (transporting from one place to another) and OMACTIVATE-ing (transforming from Kevin to O.M.A.C.). I've been impressed with the concept, and now at issue #4, the plot is starting to thicken.
It's probably the most enjoyable & fun title I'm reading right now.

Although I love and enjoy the classic Rogues; and would have no problem with them staying "tech based", I do like the idea of them having meta powers as well. Since their nemesis; The Flash, has meta powers why shouldn't they as well?
I think in a creative sense it's good, it keeps from repeating story arcs from the past.....lets face it, they've pretty much done everything they can with the tech-based Rogues Gallery, why not try something new in the "new 52"?

2. Wally West is the guardian of the timestream. He steps in to make sure neither Barry Allen nor his Rogues attempt to alter the past again. Having lost his family to changes in the timestream, he has dedicated his life to protecting its integrity. Wow! I really like that one. Very good.

I loved Howard Porter! Loved how he drew the red/yellow streak behind The Flash! Loved him on the early JLA w/ Morrison as well. That was; of course, before the first issue of the "New 52" Flash came out by Manapul......he is now THE MAN! My favorite Flash artist hands down.

I agree wholeheartedly with your review. The artwork is simply perfect for the story and tone of the title....Manapul & Buccellato are wonderful, and have spoiled me with their work on The Flash!!

November 2012?! That's ridiculous. Almost makes me worry that this Flash series will be as late and delayed as the last one I don't think so, I think they just don't want to release all the top sellers in the same week/month. If anything, the scheduled date keeps me collecting the monthly Flash (rather than just waiting on the Graphic Novel). I'm sure that's what DC wants anyway....big numbers every month.

My Pull List has changed a few times since the "new 52" started: I'm currently collecting:
Aquaman, Deathstroke, The Flash, Green Arrow, I Vampire, O.M.A.C., Red Lanterns, & The Savage Hawkman.
I've dropped Mister Terrific, & a few others that I'll collect in Graphic Novel form.
I'm currently collecting the following in Graphic Novel Form:
Green Lantern, GL Corps, GL New Guardians, Justice League, and possibly Batman: Dark Knight (picked up issues 1 & 2, and was impressed).
Overall, I've liked everything I've read except Mister Terrific. My list could be much larger but I've been "skimming" it down over the last couple of years for financial reasons.

I loved the movie and found it quite impressive! I went into it trying to be all "zen" about continuity and already knowing most of the background, etc......I tried to view it like someone who was new to the whole Green Lantern Universe.
It could have been a little longer, they did have to cover a lot of area in the just unde 2 hours.....but they jist of "overcoming fear" and using "willpower" did come across nicely.
I would love a sequel with Sinestro as a villain.....

If Batman was aware of Cap's "powers" (i.e. if they didn't just appear in an arena, or a flash of light and there is Cap in Gotham face-to-face with The Dark Knight).....then I'm taking Batman 9 out of every 10 times!
Why? Captain America is honorable and in many ways better and stronger than The Dark Knight.....but Batman would fight dirty and wouldn't just go "toe-to-toe" with Capt. America, Batman would find a way to turn Cap's strengths into weaknesses.......because that is what he does.

My favorite DC Hero other than The Flash would be Green Arrow. Sure, I could throw out GL or Batman, but they are common favs. So I'm going with Green Arrow. Why? He can put an arrow into the end of the barrell of a handgun while falling 20 stories and commenting about social politics.......I really hope they continue the "magic forest" story arcs and/or make the character a bit more dark (I really think GA could be DC's version of Punisher).
My favorite DC Villain: Darkseid. Without a doubt, when Darkseid comes up with a scheme, it's galaxy-wide and all about conquering! I fell in love with Darkseid when he had Superman "dead to rights" and let him go because Supes had beaten him "fair and square"......true genius and villain etiquete!
