Good ideas.....but I don't see a Johns/Morrison team-up happening ever....
Personally, I'd like to see a Sinestro/Thawne team-up, but I think they would just end up fighting one another.

.......There was an idea that got tossed out back in the 90s-- I think for an Elseworlds graphic novel... The basic gist was that Barry had never died, Wally had never regained his speed and that Dick Grayson feeling largely redundant had retired from costumed crime-fighting. I think the premise was going to be kind of a pulp-fiction/film noir-esque vibe with Dick and Wally being best friends who team up and open a Private Detective Agency. Given that Bruce is back and there are currently 2 Batmen-- thus Dick kind of is redundant (unfortunately! I kind of prefer him as Batman over Bruce) and that Barry is back and DC is trying to pretend the past 20+ years of Wally's run as The Flash never happened maybe it's time to dust off this idea and give it a whirl. True....true!! Funny how that works out...

Both of you are correct! I think that the editors at DC get too wrapped up in legacy to think ahead......they're pulling with Wally West in the DCU what they ACTUALLY pulled on Nick Spencer in real life!.....so at least they are being consistent.
[glow=red,2,300]I love DC[/glow] ....and outside of a couple of Image on-goings, I read them exclusively.....but I think they are so scared to try anything new sometimes that when they actually do, they go way OVERBOARD!!
That said, when DC goes with a storyline, they stick with it.....when Barry was sacrificed I was still a child...and when Hal Jordan turned bad, possessed, and then sacrificed, Spectre-ed....it took awhile for DC to admit they were really just scared to kill him off....and then bring him back as Green Lantern.
I had heard from Gotham Knights Online (where I'm a forum member) that originally Grant Morrison wanted to stretch the Grayson-Batman story arc out for a few years before Bruce Wayne's return....but fan reaction was so strong that editorial was fearful and nixed that plan......thank God!
After saying all of that, I originally thought Barry's return would be great, but seeing how it has been done and that Wally West is just being pushed off to the leftovers pile, I wonder if they may be damaging the mythos of one of DC's finest? It felt right with Hal Jordan, it does NOT feel right with Barry Allen.....and I don't really know why? Maybe too forced, I'm not sure...

I'm reading The Flash Teen Titans American Vampire And I read most of whatever Mister Mercer buys. How is American Vampire? I've heard a lot about it and enjoy Snyder's writing in Detective Comics, just wondering? Didn't[glow=red,2,300] Stephen King [/glow]write AV's first story arc?

I get that Johns wanted to make Barry Allen central to the legacy, but this specific tampering of the speed force dynamic cost most of the other speedsters any important place in the legacy or the ability to create their own legacies. Here's my biggest example....Irey West.....I like Barry Allen as character, but I think having him as the engine of the speedforce and also the standard by which all other Flashes get their powers kind of hurts the legacy......now Barry Allen is bigger than any one Flash. Barry Allen is bigger than the mantle. I hope Flashpoint revises this somehow. I do kind of agree with that take, it does kinda feel as though all the other Speedsters; rather than "enveloped by" and "searching the mysteries of" the Speedforce, are just looking to Barry Allen. However, that kind of reminds me of how the greater DCU looks at Superman.....so not necessarily a bad thing, just different. I personally prefer Wally West to Barry Allen, but I'm willing to give Johns the benefit of the doubt.....that he has some master plan to put everything in an order that will dignify the other Speedster's relativity & legitimize Barry's "carrying" the mantle.I'm with you that my hope is Flashpoint will give some definite answers to these issues.

I'm currently reading The Flash vol. 1, "The Dastardly Death of The Rogues"........ and during breaks at work I'm currently re-reading through the Justice League of America, right now reading the "Sanctuary" story arc.
I like Morrison's, Daniel's, & Snyder's Bat-Books, but I'm more of a Bruce Wayne loyalist.....no one likes change (lol).
Just finished reading War of the Supermen.....sigh, didn't like the ending in that one.....so much build-up for.....fizzzz

No judging.....just work and learn at that pace and you'll be a success! Don't worry what others think, only God can judge you. The Flash "sneeked" up on me the same way....

Wow! Everyone making intelligent, good points (that doesn't happen often in Forums).
I hope that DC & Johns go against the Coke-Cherry Coke marketing strategy set forth by Dreg (great analogy by the way!) and bring Wally West back into the forefront with Barry Allen. Both characters are established and loved.....and I believe could co-exist each with their own monthly.
On the other hand; unlike the Green Lantern Franchise, is there room for too many Flashes? Maybe, maybe not. In that case, I think Jay Garrick should get the "axe". Barry Allen could then become the Flash of the JSA and Wally West the Flash of the JLA. Then let the FANS decide by voting; in the same fashion as the "should we kill Jason Todd?" scenario, which Flash should "rule".
I am keeping faith that Geoff Johns (a comic-writing genius in my opinion) knows what he's doing and will do the right thing for Barry, Wally, and the Flash franchise as a whole.

....Barry Allen shoud have stayed DEAD...Barry made the ultimate sacrifice, for the sake of humanity. Not to be recycled, like a plastic bottle. I think the main difference between Hal & Barry is that Hal was never really dead....from GL to Parallax to Spectre. Plus, the difference in franchises..... Green Lantern had crashed and burned with Kyle Rayner, The Flash was doing well with Wally West. Now I understand that Geoff Johns probably knew that he would be doing Brightest Day way-back-when, so the idea of bringing back so many characters and ignoring Barry Allen might be foolish. Plus, I'm sure Johns & DC believe that Barry Allen's reception would mirror that of Jordan's....great sales and a resurgence in a beloved character. All that said, I'm with you Petasos.....I loved Wally West as The Flash, and feel a little let down by the Barry Allen run thus far...and that Wally has seemed to fall off the map. I hope that Johns will continue to do his fabulous writing, and bring Wally into some aspect of Flashpoint. I have not given up hope that the Barry Allen run will be great, or that Wally and Barry can co-exist.....but it does feel a little " recycled", a "it worked with Hal, so let's try it with every other character we can!" Still a Flash fan though!

I've been an avid Flash fan since I started reading Wally West's run as The Flash written by Geoff Johns. I hadn't considered reading Flash prior to that, but Grant Morrison's JLA got me interested in the Scarlett Speedster and I haven't looked back.
I love The Flash's Rogues, they are oftentimes as interesting to me as The Flash himself.....and everyone knows a hero is only as good as his Rogues....lol.
I also collect Batman, Elephantmen, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Justice League of America, & Superman......would also collect Aquaman & Hawkman when/if they are available.

I'm sure at some point along the line Geoff Johns will explain how and what Speedforce someone will be in.....whether they subconsciously choose one or the other Speedforce based on their predisposition toward good or evil (though there have been evil Speedsters who tap into the Speedforce.....Savitar & Black Flash for instance), or something else.
Plus, consider that Zoom's Negative Speedforce is NEW, so it may take a while to get his own "stable" of Speedsters and work out the details of how and when that happens. TRUST GEOFF JOHNS!!....You've all seen what he did with Green Lantern right?
