Mine is Mark Waid, and not just for Flash, I loved Kingdom Come, I've bought all the Irredeemable/Incorruptible trades so far and I haven't got around to reading it yet but I picked up the Daredevil hardcover, I've heard only good things about his run on DD so far

I honestly couldn't say. The ones who've written stuff I really liked have also all written stuff (or at least had aspects) I really didn't like. So I don't think I could pick a favourite, just name a few who I've enjoyed but have also annoyed me at times.

I paid a lot more attention to artists than writers when I was growing up, being a big fan of Curt Swan and Carmine Infantino. That being said, I'll agree Waid did a great job on The Flash and Kingdom Come. Looking back, I liked Jim Shooter's Legion stories when I was a kid (though I didn't track who was writing them at the time). I also went nuts for Moore's Watchmen and Miller's Dark Knight and Batman Year One. More recently, I liked Geoff John's GL stories (though not quite as much his Barry stories), and I really like what Manapul and Buccellato are doing with The Flash right now.

I used to have a pet answer...Geoff Johns, but now I'm convinced it really depends on what is being written and who is being written.
Geoff Johns is, with no doubt, master of the "rebirth". However, I've found that I enjoy Rob Kirkman's writing on The Walking Dead or Richard Starkings' writing in The Elephantmen. I like Jason Aaron's writing in The Incredible Hulk, but hated his writing in PunisherMax.
I guess what I'm saying is Geoff Johns writing Green Lantern is my favorite author.....

I liked Mark Waid, but mostly for his "Captain America" run with Ron Garney. His other stuff has been kinda take-it-or-leave-it. "Superman Birthright" was awful (though, that might have had more to do with the art than the story), and "Kingdom Come" is overrated in my opinion (personally, I think its popularity has more to do with Alex Ross than Waid). I haven't read anything from his "Flash" run.
There isn't anything written by Jeph Loeb (particularly his stuff with Tim Sale) which I haven't liked.
Hands down, though, I'm a Dan Jurgens fan. I'm looking forward to him returning to "Superman".

Glad to hear someone else is a fan of Jurgens returning to Superman. I like his work as well and am looking forward to Dan returning to Supes.

I've only enjoyed one thing from Waid....JLA: Tower of Babel. I've just never been able to get into any of his other work. Kingdom Come....<yawn>, his work on The Flash....boring, and I didn't bother collecting the new Daredevil title....for fear of Waid. Though a lot of people do like him, so maybe it's just me....lol.
I've always enjoyed Jeph Loeb's writing....though I'm kinda sad he's at Marvel, not writing that much anymore.
I liked Jurgens art on Green Arrow, and you can't argue against his history with Superman.

I kinda am digging Judd Winnick still. I don't know why though. Habit I guess. I wouldn't mind seeing him do the Flash at some point. Other than him, Garth Ennis and Robert Kirkman stand out.
