Speedforce's Tumblr blog pointed me to a Newsarama item, where they have posted an interview with James Robinson regarding the upcoming Earth 2 series...and there is a huge group of updates here - so much that I'll also reference this in other threads... THERE IS A LOOK AT THE "NEW", YOUNGER JAY GARRICK: www.newsarama.com/multimedia/img_display.php?pic=RUFSVEgtMi0yLUNvdmVyXzAyLmpwZ3xFeGNsdXNpdmU6IEpBTUVTIFJPQklOU09OIERlc2NyaWJlcyB0aGUgTmV3IDUyJ3MgRUFSVEggMnx8Y29taWNzUh, I don't know what to say...there is still a shiny helmet, and you can sort of tell it's supposed to be Jay, but this is a reboot on the level of what has happened to Superman in the New 52, much more so than the changes to Barry's outfit. It is definitely dynamic, but honestly I was a bit jarred by the difference when I first saw it. That being said, I'll stick to my wait-and-see for E-2 to actually come out before I give any final verdict. Here's the full article, which confirms Wally and Donna will NOT be on Earth-2 (though it leaves things open for other plans to happen): www.newsarama.com/comics/james-robinson-describes-earth-2.htmlOK, what are YOUR thoughts about the "new" Jay?

Remarkably terrible and disappointing, though I could say the same about pretty much the entire reboot.

You know, I've been a big fan of most of the reboot. And, I've tended to stay optimistic through all the changes. But, for some reason this one really hits me hard. I'm still looking forward to the E-2 book and want to see what kind of stories I'll see...but I'm also feeling a bit jarred by what I saw for the rebooted Jay Garrick. I am not totally surprised to see a change...just surprised at the amount of change here. Most of the reboots wound up looking something closer to the "old" versions than this, so it definitely will take some getting used to here...it just raises the stakes for me, as the story will have to be REALLY good to make up for this design. Keeping my fingers crossed here...

I'll just repost my comment from SpeedForce.org:
The knee-jerk reaction is to hate it (mostly the helmet…the bodysuit looks okay and not *that* far from pre-52 Jay).
However, the picture has him at an awkward angle while being attacked by rats. Not the greatest image to get a firm idea of what the character will be like and the costume. I’m going to reserve judgement until a “cleaner” image is released.

That's a fair comment - I'll hold judgment as well until we see more.

Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't like it.
Yes, it's not the cleanest image, but I'm not seeing a lot that impresses me here. There is nothing here that says Jay to me. If the solicits didn't mention him, I'd have no idea this was him.
The Mercury helmet is classic, iconic, it screams Jay Garrick. I'm glad they kept a helmet, but this seems too far away from the original source.

For me it isn't just about Jay's new look. I've been finding the few details DC's been releasing about Earth-2 to just be...unappealing. But it is true I dislike the reboot in general and that may colour my opinions. And in all honesty, I don't like the concept of multiple earths, so obviously I'm not the target audience either.

Don't feel bad Dill. Didio(t) has made it clear that fans of the 1987-2003 DCU are no longer welcome. He only wants NEW readers. .......sorry just venting. this last year has been a bigger let-down with every new month

He only wants NEW readers. .......sorry just venting. this last year has been a bigger let-down with every new month I wish I could disagree I'm very, very disappointed with DC these days, and it's sad because I don't want to be. As I was saying over at Speed Force, the big Canadian con is a month from now and I'm deciding how many days I want to go -- normally I go for the entire extended weekend, but now I probably don't care about panels, don't have a lot of back bins to go through, don't have a lot of artists/writers to talk to. In short, my interest in current comics is really declining.
