In a way, Turbine's tragedy is similar to Mon-El's (of LSH). Traditionally, Superboy imprisons Lar Gand within the Phantom Zone to save Lar from lead poisoning. He is eventually freed in the 30th century by the Legion and able to live thanks to Brainiac 5's anit-lead serum.
During that interval, Lar suffers to not give into complete madness, as by being in the Zone, he can 'see' the present yet unable to interact with it by being a phantom. He sees 1000 years pass before being rescued.
I can imagine that same torment for Turbine here. I understand your comments about his being a Tuskagee Airman, but still, having to live through an ordeal like this would be maddening to anyone.
As for the Speed Force, I'd have to give it more thought. At first glance, I like this concept of it better than the Rebirth concept. I also like it better than Barry is more a safety valve than the idea that if he doesn't run at all, everything comes to an end.
I may also have to go back and check the images on the Speed Force's walls. Wouldn't be surprised if they put some kind of foreshadowing image there since inside the Speed Force, one can see the future.

You have a very interesting take on Turbine's time in the Speed Force, with that connection to Mon-El's time in the Phantom Zone. And, you are likely right in the idea of those Speed Force pics having some foreshadowing - I don't think there is anything random in the artwork for The Flash these days.

Interesting review! You gave some thought about him being a Tuskegee Airman that I didn't consider. I'm sure M&B didn't mean any disrespect, and just wanted to give him an interesting background. I wouldn't be surprised if this comes back some how. Here is a link to my review: znculturecast.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/speed-reading-the-flash-8/

I enjoyed your review - you caught those flutes that I didn't note before (always something extra in the artwork with Manapul and Buccellato). And, I agree that it is very doubtful M&B meant anything bad in how they used a Tuskegee Airman - just wish it hadn't turned out so badly for this Roscoe. Please link us up to more of your reviews - that would be a most welcome addition to this forum as well!

Thanks for your kind words.
The more I think about it, the more I like him being a Tuskegee Airman. Beyond the diversification, I think it adds to his tragedy. Here, he was this "real American hero" from a group of highly respected heroes coming from a time where African Americans were being persecuted. The work his group did was another strong step forward in breaking down the color barriers. Then, due to no fault of his own, he gets sucked into this other realm and slowly looses it after years of, presumably, being there alone. It is really sad and really makes you feel the weight of his tragic fall.
I liken it to Magneto from the X-Men. Here is a guy who survived a concentration camp, arguably one of the darkest elements from one of the darkest moments in human history. And from that experience, it shatters his faith in humanity and, more-or-less, turns against it with his powers.
It makes both characters well-rounded and causes, I feel, the reader to sympathize with them a whole lot more. Granted, we've only seen Turbine once. Judging from the cover, I am excited to see he is back for the big Rogues battle in the annual. I can't wait to find out what M&B have planned for this character and how his future interactions with the Flash and other Rogues will be.

You have some very interesting food for thought when it comes to Turbine. I do like your comparison to Magneto, and it makes sense.
Also, thanks for the link to your blog. It is always a good thing to get additional points of view, and you have some excellent articles on your site!
