I just got through reading the latest issue of Superman. It's good, and I am a big fan (had the Superman pajamas when I was a kid, the ones with the inscription letting me know that the suit wouldn't really let me fly). I do like the story...but when I was through I think I finally got a better picture of why I like this run of the Flash so much (see link to my blog for more)... barryallenvsm.tumblr.com/post/24095997953/superman-v-flash-not-the-way-you-think-though

That is an interesting perspective. I've been following Superman as well. I think part of the problem on that title is that it can't keep a creative team. And if you have a constantly rotating team, it is difficult to get a sense of direction for a book. First, you had the Perez run and that told a complete story. Perez then left the book, thereby ditching any potential direction.
Then Jurgens/Griffin come on board. They decide to do shorter, two-part stories. Already, I'm enjoying their work (though, I admit, I've been a BIG fan of Jurgens for many years), and it seems as if they have trajectory in mind with the title.
However, as we recently learned, Scott Lobdell is coming on the book in a few issues, replacing Jurgens/Griffin. Presumably, he will ditch whatever those two were working towards to give it his own spin.
Once the title gets a committed team, the book will find its footing on what it wants to be. I hope.

The panel layouts that Manapul does are just amazing, especially how they fit the book's title into them.
I'm a big Superman fan as well but haven't been reading any of the new material, partly because of what Speedster mentioned, lack of a stable creative team, and partly because of the re-launch itself.
I'll catch up in TPBs but switching from Perez (an acknowledged master) to Jurgens/Giffen (both really solid pros) to now Lobdell (hey, I liked his X-Men work back in the day), how can DC expect to present a cohesive narrative and stable characterization?
