I miss them too. It is good to see at least a New52 version of Bart in Teen Titans and the New52 Jay Garrick in earth 2, but I miss not only Wally but also Max Mercury and Johnny and Jesse Quick. Hopefully we will see them all at some point in time.

All reviews are welcome here - we may look at the issue differently but you do a great job making your points and explaining your views on the issue. Thanks for sharing the link here - you are always welcome to add your reviews!

I think your two reviews are the "Glass half full or Glass half empty" argument. I lean toward xBarryxAllenx's review, because I'm a 1/2-full type of guy.
You do make some interesting points though; Speedster, including the seemingly missing "ghost" issue that would have gotten us all up to speed, allowing for more story in this issue. Ghost Writer? Perhaps....but I think it's just the learning curve of Manapul scripting an issue that he is not also the artist on.
I noticed in #9 that there is no explanation of how The Flash gets back to Central City from Gorilla City.....(I didn't notice it at first, but upon multiple readings it stuck out in my mind).....but I assumed it would be explained in the future or just isn't important. Perhaps it's the same for Dr. Elias' protests? It was there just to let us know that citizens in the Gem Cities no longer like The Flash as much, and not an actual story in itself.
....anyway, I thought the obvious starting point for issue 10 would be The Flash trying to get Iris West & her three companions out of the Speedforce....?
What I wonder is if "The Man" & "Booch" are having to kinda rush forward to try and get everything in line for the Zero issue and The Flash Annual? That said, all these issues are basically "one-&-dones" except for one small thread connecting them to the next issue.....that being Iris West & companions trapped in the Speedforce.....so I'm not all that worried about small points.
I will say despite Marcus To & Ray McCarthy doing well, I've been spoiled by the monthly masterpieces of Manapul & Buccellato!!! If they had done the art, I wouldn't have noticed anything but the pretty pictures....lol.

I think your two reviews are the "Glass half full or Glass half empty" argument. I lean toward xBarryxAllenx's review, because I'm a 1/2-full type of guy. I'm not exactly sure what that means. Just to clarify, I wasn't being serious about a ghost writer. It is just that I felt the issue was such a giant misstep when compared to the solid run thus far in the series, that it didn't even seem like it would have been something M&B wrote. He likely ran. As we've seen during the "Mob Rule" arc and during issue 10, Flash has run across globe with incredible ease. I'm sure a trip from Gorilla City (wherever that actually is) back to Central City would have been easy (once he got to a recognizable location). Perhaps, but considering how they built this new character up as an ally of Flash, you'd think delve more into it. Good point, but since Flash's girlfriend is in immediate danger, Iris can wait. Again, this is another problem I had where I felt like there was a missing issue. That is an excellent point. While they did state that after "Mob Rule", most of the issues were going to be done-in-ones, given what has slowly been revealed about the behind the scenes of the New 52, I wouldn't be surprised if the zero issues were a surprised forced element that M&B had to contend with.

I'm not exactly sure what that means. 1/2 full-1/2 empty.....I was just saying that I think your and xBarryxAllenx's reviews were basically saying the same thing, except his came from a more "I liked this issue" point of view, and yours came from a more "I didn't like this issue" point of view.Just to clarify, I wasn't being serious about a ghost writer. ...I know, I was agreeing with you that the writing didn't seem up to par with previous issues. ....lol....at first I wondered if it was Gorilla City in the "recent" past, etc....since he was dropped there by the Speedforce. I suppose if I had thought about it some more I would have realized that it's in the "present", since Grodd now has a grudge against The Flash.Perhaps, but considering how they built this new character up as an ally of Flash, you'd think delve more into it. Fair enough...I wouldn't be surprised if the zero issues were a surprised forced element that M&B had to contend with. I agree with you there.....a gimmick to increase sales like an "event" would, but without having an "event".

Well, there was a line at the end of the Grodd issue that Flash had been gone for a few months. From how I read it, while Barry might have only been with Turbine for a short period, the speed force spit him out a few months from when Barry left.

Both excellent reviews, both bring up interesting points.
As for myself though, I thought it was the best-written issue of the title so far, mainly because of the dialogue focusing on Barry and Patty.
I am firmly in the camp of Barry being with and married to Iris (much in the same vein that Clark and Lois should be married). Yet in this issue, I got the first real sense, the importance of this new relationship Barry has with Patty, what she means to him, and the lengths he obviously will go to for her. The same with Patty, her feelings of loss over Barry's 'death' and how her perception of the Flash is tied into those feelings. It may be the cliche idea of 'Should I tell her my secret or not?' but I thought this to be good showing of it.
The same with Mardon and family. Yeah, we were thrown In Media Res into this story, but the explanations, backstory, and emotions were handled very well over it. Concerning Elsa's confession, I chalk it up to her belief that Marco should have been in charge from the get-go, that everything she did, she did for the best of the Family. Her plans go up in flames but she wanted Marco to know what she'd done for him, even if it will possibly cause her death.
I thought this to be an excellent Done-In-One story with some great fill-in art.
