How do the rest of you feel about this event so far? I've been reading the main mini, and so far, I've felt...underwhelmed by it.
Maybe because I've read very little of the tie-ins, but the main battle between Aquaman and Wonder Woman feels shallow and a little forced. The world is threatened with destruction by it, but that tension doesn't resonate in the main book.
I do like the interaction between Barry and Batman. I like how Thomas, dark and violent as he is, is held aloft slightly by Barry's fading memories of his son Bruce. Of course, Barry acting as the sole noble light left in this dark world is to be expected.
I think this event is tainted by the fact that we know what will result from it. As of the most current issue, #5, Thawne has finally revealed himself. The great mastermind who altered history, we only have one issue left to see how he, in fact, did it. I feel a rushed ending coming up.
Thoughts?

I agree completely. When Barry Came Back and they were beginning to hype it up it was supposed to be the Ultimate Flash Storyline. But Honestly, I could think of a dozen story lines in just the last fifteen years (maybe even the last ten!) that were far more exciting and had me chomping at the bit for the next issue! and that's just in the Flash by itself.

I think the ending is going to be a bit rushed. But, the story itself has been good...if you read the tie-ins. The Batman story in particular is exceptional, creating a version of Batman that could stand on its own for a very long time. The Aquaman and Wonder Woman tie-ins clarify those nagging issues that appear more shallow in the main series. In fact, the Aquaman in his tie-in is a more powerful and interesting character than I've seen for him in a long time. Not all of the tie-ins are great, but most of them make the main story better. Overall I'm okay with the storyline, but we'll have to wait and see what the last issue gives us.

Judging by the early promos, I thought this event would be more in line with Johns' Green Lantern events such as The Sinestro Corps War, a self-contained story arc. Instead, we got an alternate universe that will lead into a new continuity.
Batman has been my favorite character so far. I would read more of his adventures. Element Woman is erratic but in a good way. Being a long-time Shazam fan, loved the kids, Tawny the battle cat, Captain Thunder, which, of course, means I hate Johns for what he did to Billy in #5. (Darn you too Diana!!!)
The big question I have now is, will Thawne survive into the DCnU? Maybe, but I hope it's explained how he is able to alter history so easily now.

I don't mind Flashpoint. I really like it actually. I'm only reading the main series, though. I had some pretty harsh thoughts about Flashpoint and it just "being a reset button" for the DCU, as I put it before . But even though I said that, I've not been against the DC reboot. On the contrary, I embrace it as a way for me to jump on board with many DC titles. After I read Flashpoint, I really liked what I was reading and regretted all the things I said about it. It's a really interesting concept and I can kinda see how it can lead into the DCnU. Oh, also, Element Woman's an awesome character.

Really, Johns isn't one of my all-time fav writers. The delays suffered by the last Flash title, I think, affected my overall enjoyment of his work on that book.
As for Flashpoint, I like the story. Alternate timeline stories are always fun and interesting. But for me, knowing that the outcome will be the DCnU, the story hasn't reached that kind of level or impact such news should warrant.
That's why I'm hoping #6 will be mind-blowing, if only because of another chapter of the Allen/Thawne feud. The last issue should leave me feeling excited for the re-launch.
