Back in 6th or 7th grade, a classmate showed me a copy of Flash #240 and excitedly filled me in on all the recent goings on with the series and the trial.
I ran out and picked up the current issue at the time (#344) and devoured it, reading it over and over. I started following the series from that point having no idea it was about to end in six short months.
I picked up the odd issue here and there of Wally's post COIE series, but it just wasn't doing it for me. I wanted Barry.
Wally/Flash started appearing in various Lustice League titles that I was following over the years and he began to grow on me. I decided to give his solo series another shot. By chance, the first issue I picked up was #164 Geoff Johns' first issue. I was hooked and followed it up untill it's final issue.
I read the first few issues of Bart's series and dropped it. I came back for Rebirth only to drop it early on as well.
I'll be back for September's #1 and I really hope it's good because I miss not having a monthly dose of the Flash.

Welcome aboard! Wally's early few years weren't my favorite either I must confess. as I've stated before I really got started during the "Return of Barry Allen" later i went back and collected the full run and for me, the good stuff really started when William Messner-Loebs started writing. Barry's a very cool character I think if he has any flaw it's that Editorial shoots him in the foot. (I think everyone would welcome Barry's upcoming series with open arms if edit. hadn't basically said..."OK we have The Silver Age Back we don't need any Modern Age characters any more!")

Thanks. Years ago, I picked up the first few years of Wally's run on ebay but have yet to read them.
Deserved or not, Barry has seemed to have achieved a reputation for being a stiff and dry character. He could even be written that way and could work if the stories involving him were written well. I'm not sold yet on the new creative team for the relaunch but have my fingers crossed.

Hello and welcome!
I know what you mean. I caught onto Flash near the series' end only to see Barry die some months later in CoIE.
Wally's start was rocky but matured over time. I'll take either one, or even better, both!
