I just picked up a nice hardcover edition of The Flash of Two Worlds. This includes several comics from the early '60s that teamed up Jay Garrick with Barry Allen. This is the first time I've read comics from this era, and it's a lot of fun. Something that's really stood out to me is all the different nicknames they used for the Flash back then. I always knew he was the Scarlet Speedster, but I haven't heard about the Sultan of Speed, the Monarch of Motion, or the Crimson Comet.
Are they any other wacky Flash nicknames out there? Which one is your favorite?

Major miss? Well, I guess you could have mentioned that Grodd claims Flash is dead. But that seems to be the case with all these villain comics — every hero is dead, or more likely, just missing.
As for this issue, I really enjoyed it. It was exciting and shocking, and I felt bad for a lot of the minor characters shown here. But this story did remind me a lot of Grodd's Flashpoint issue, unfortunately. I would have preferred a little more originality.
But how does everyone feel about the 3-D cover? I had the choice to buy 3-D or 2-D, and after comparing them side-by-side in the store, I chose 2-D. Yes, the extra dollar did help, but mostly, I did not like the 3-D effect. At all. I was kind of confused to see so many people on Twitter praising the 3-D. Just a personal preference, I guess. Credit to DC for making both options available.

OK, so here goes ... SPOILERS!
Seriously, SPOILERS!!
I was kind of hoping that Iris was going to be Reverse-Flash. I don't know why, I just thought it'd be pretty fun. Plus, she always seemed rather suspicious. Are you sure you don't have any powers? But anyway, Daniel works well, and I already have a pretty good idea for how he got his powers. A lot of people forgot about the Rogues stealing Dr. Elias' monorail, which was powered by a giant cell of Speed Force energy. And in Flash #17, Daniel is pulled into the Mirror World, and stands right in front of that monorail. Pretty slick writing of Manapul and Buccellato to start setting this up in the background of the Flash fighting the Rogues and Gorilla Grodd.

I've heard some people say there was too much action and not enough story. But this action was necessary and fun. You just have to remember that this is part 4 of a story line and not an individual issue. I think if the action was toned down, then people would complain that this story didn't have enough action.
Is it OK to talk about spoilers yet? Has it been long enough?

Yeah, Lois did set up Etrigan to rhyme. And his rhymes were actually pretty fun. Too bad we only got two of them.

Everything about this issue was fun. I laughed several times, and am seriously hoping we can get a Flash-Green Lantern title, or mini-series, or at least let these two characters guest star in each other's titles more. And the backup did a great job of how effective and interesting the Flash can be with small, simple problems.
I was a little sad that this issue took place outside of the main Reverse-Flash story line, but everything was done so well here, I didn't mind paying the extra $2.

Such an amazing issue. Just when I think these guys can't blow me away anymore, they do it again. I was also pretty giddy to see a return to the Salt Flats, a place near and dear to my heart. Through Twitter, Francis Manapul told me this place was Barry's "Fortress of Solitude."

Hey, I just realized that Superman looks a lot like the Superman of the future in Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman.

Thank you! I'm glad I could find some people who share my love of the Flash!

A limited series would be great, or at the very least, a crossover between the Flash and Green Lantern titles.

It's very rare for heroes to die in movies. In fact, the only one I can think of is X-Men: The Last Stand that killed of Scott, Jean and Prof. X. But that wasn't a well-received movie. I'm not saying it's impossible for a Justice League movie to kill the Flash, but it would be highly unlikely. I mean, would Marvel kill anybody in the Avengers (besides Agent Coulson)?

And you caught Brian Buccellato's attention — how about that? My take: Issue #21 is Part 2 of a 5-part story. So we're kinda stuck in the middle without knowing where the story will take us. We all crave resolutions and fully-formed heroes, but all readers of The Flash need a little more patience. Manapul and Buccellato haven't let us down yet — let's give them a few more issues and then things will make more sense.

I was hoping for a little more to come from this meeting, but I guess there's always more time for Barry and Bart to meet up again. I also suppose they'd have to do Kid Flash's origin in Teen Titans, but I'd really like to see it happen in The Flash.

I think he means Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato. Fun idea for a villain, though.

I just listened to an old interview with Francis Manapul, and his first choice to play Barry was Ryan Gosling. Just another name to throw in the mix.

Barry Allen is STILL absent from the Justice League. Since issue #14, he has only appeared once, and that time he acted a lot more like Wally than Barry. But think about that — only one appearance in half a year? Does Geoff Johns really like this character?

Yet another amazing Flash issue. These guys keep finding ways to surpass my expectations.
I also would love to see a Flash animated series based directly off this Manapul-Buccellato run. Hopefully the Flashpoint movie will be a huge success and inspire DC to start looking into something like that.
