I'm not surprised Dial H is gone. I only picked up the one with the Flash (which was exactly what DC wanted), but I was thrown right into the middle of the story with no idea who was who or what was going on. They didn't give a me a good idea of what had previously happened, nor did they give me any reason to keep reading. Not to mention the unsavory artwork and questionable subject matter.

I've never been particularly attached to Wally, so I don't really have a horse in this race, but I have to ask long-time Wally fans: Which is better, leaving Wally out completely or bringing him back in a completely different form (like making him younger and the new Impulse, or turning him into a girl or something like that)? I think you should be able to take some comfort in knowing DC hasn't ruined him.

This isn't necessarily a Flash story, but I loved what Darwin Cooke did with Barry Allen in New Frontier.

This kind of reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series, when they brought in Tim Drake but gave him a lot of Jason Todd characteristics. Maybe DC feels like they can get by without Wally by making Barry act a little like him. I also noticed Barry acting a little uncharacteristically goofy in my review of Justice League #9. While I loved that particular scene, it does seem indicative of what could be a disturbing trend. new52flash.blogspot.com/2013/03/justice-league-9.html

Lisa's been pretty good in the New 52, but one of my all-time favorite comic book moments was when Cap. Boomerang killed Tim Drake's dad in Identity Crisis. Gotta vote for Digger.

Agreed. Inertia's nice and all, but he's no Mirror Master.

Well, I haven't read many Flash stories, but I really liked Grodd in the Justice League cartoons, and I loved the latest Gorilla Warfare storyline, so I gotta vote Grodd.

Trickster is pretty fun, but he's no Captain Cold.

Very, very tough choice for me. The Weather Wizard is one of the most recognizable villains in the DC. I think every non-Flash fan knows who he is — or can at least figure out his powers from his name. But non-Flash fans know very little about Eobard Thawne. I knew nothing of him until I read Flash: Rebirth by Geoff Johns. After going through that, I don't think there's any villain who's had a bigger impact on any hero than him. So my vote will have to go to the Reverse Flash.

Now things are getting serious. Although I did enjoy Owen Mercer in Identity Crisis, I don't think he's been around enough to beat any version of the Mirror Master.

I gave my latest review the lowest score on my blog (don't worry, it's not a Flash issue!), but more importantly, I included a timeline of all of Barry Allen's appearances in the New 52. I would love it if some people could look over it and make sure I'm not missing anything. new52flash.blogspot.com/2013/03/action-comics-12.html

Nice review speedster! I agree with everything you said, except for two minor things. First, I never felt like Grodd had an advantage in the Speed Force. He just caught Flash's leg briefly, but Flash was able to kick his way out of it quickly. It was, however, a little odd to interrupt that sequence with five pages. Secondly, I do have to point out that monorail was in the background of the scene where the Rogues began recruiting Turbine. Although they don't expressly mention it, they do refer to their "new toys."
So far, Manapul and Buccellato have done a good job on following through on most of their plot lines. I trust (and hope) that they'll answer the rest of our questions soon.

Your ancestors called it magic; you call it science; where I come from, they're one and the same.
I've just re-read Flash 7, 8 and 9, and I really got a kick out having three different people explain the Flash's powers in three different ways. Elias worked from the point of view of a scientist, Turbine from first-hand experience, and the gorilla elders from an almost religious perspective of stories being passed down for generations. Although there were some major differences in each of their stories, the basic elements are the same, and I think the real truth behind the Flash's powers lie somewhere between them all.
I personally don't consider the Speed Force as a magical source of power like Shazam's, for example, but at the same time it feels too grand and mysterious for contemporary science to comprehend. So I guess you could say there are arguments to the Flash fitting in all three categories (with Tech for his suit he created), and I think that's what makes Flash such a great character. There's a little bit for everyone.

What an amazing issue. Just when I think things couldn't get better, they find a new way to blow me away.

I'm actually really glad that the New 52 Barry isn't always notoriously slow and late. In the few pre-52 Flash stories I've read, I got real sick real quick of that bit.

The glowing guy is named Albert. I don't know if there were any notable Alberts in older Flash stories, but basically all we know about this one is that he's an engineering major who didn't know about the TV show "Lost." I know some people think Wally will be the Reverse Flash, but right now I'm putting my money on this Albert kid.
As for the Barry-Patty-Iris love triangle — I'm getting the feeling that Patty isn't too keen about her boyfriend being a superhero. I think as soon as everything settles down, she'll break up with Barry and he'll go back to Iris.

Hi, my name is Dallin Turner, and I'm a relatively new Flash reader. The first issue I read was #0, then I went to #1 through #15. I loved it so much, I decided to start a blog where I reviewed every Flash (Barry Allen) appearance in the New 52. I've gone through the Darkseid arc in Justice League and now I'm working my through the Mob Rule arc. Come check it out at new52flash.blogspot.com!
