Wow, wish I had thought of that...I think you may be on to something there. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen.

I believe the reference was intentional. Brian Buccellato has met Kelson, according to Booch's Twitter feed, and Kelson may also have met FJM. There has been enough mutual respect there that I believe this was a very cool shout-out to Kelson. That is absolutely awesome - congrats again to Kelson!
And, I agree...definitely about time Flash gets in Dr. Elias' face. I'm looking forward to more of this!

Thanks to Newsarama for this preview... • The Green vs. The Grey! Who will decide the fate of this dying Earth: Green Lantern or Grundy? • Will the new wonders of Earth band together to form the first super team since the death of the Trinity? • Does super-genius Sloan really know what’s best for this world? Sounds like we are moving finally to the JSA...or maybe just Justice Society, if some recent interviews are accurate. Also, it is going to be most interesting to see what the e-2 "Mr Terrific" has up his sleeve. Thanks to Newsarama for this solicit for The Flash #14: • “GORILLA WARFARE” rages on! • Gorilla Grodd’s more powerful than ever, and the Flash is completely outmatched! • Who will give their life defending Central City against the ape invasion? Here is an excellent article from Speedforce.org on Joe's association with The Flash over the years: speedforce.org/2012/08/joe-kubert/I had not realized until this article how far Joe Kubert's association had gone with all four characters who assumed the mantle of The Flash. Thanks to Speedforce for putting this together!

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of one of the true giants of comics, Joe Kubert. There are very few people who have had such an influence on comics as a medium for so many years, from the golden age to a solicited series that was to come out soon from DC. Here's a link to the Newsarama story: www.newsarama.com/comics/joe-kubert-passes-away.htmlRIP Joe - we'll miss you!

Thanks to Speedforce.org for pointing the way to this story. speedforce.org/2012/08/jesse-quick-amecomi/As noted in the story linked above, Jesse Quick has been introduced as The Flash in the digital-first Ame-Comi. Even though this isn't mainstream New52, I'm very glad to see her return. And, it makes this earlier story make much more sense when you compare the statue design to the pic from the comic: speedforce.org/2010/07/jesse-quick-as-the-flash-ame-comi-statue/Guess I'm going to have to start buying the Ame-Comi series before long...

In case you have not already become well aware of this effort, there has been a large outpouring of support in the comics community for those affected by the tragic shooting in Aurora Colorado (USA) during the midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises. There will be an event in Aurora on August 25th and 26th called Aurora Rise, a fundraiser for two major funds that benefit those who were affected and their families. There are too many donors to name here...let's just say that MANY heavy hitters in comics past and present have donated to this very worthy effort. In addition, there are links that will allow those of us who cannot attend to donate directly to the cause. Below are some important links: The Facebook page for Aurora Rise: www.facebook.com/pages/Aurora-Rise-Benefit-Event/479465245414113Link for direct donations through the Aurora Rise link within Giving First: givingfirst.org/aurorarisePlease give some consideration to this very important effort!

DC Collectibles has a line of custom graphic prints featuring several characters and themes from the DC Roster, including one for The Flash. Thanks to Newsarama for pointing the way to this offer on DC's site. Here's a sample of the image: The actual print is sold in two sizes and should look even more impressive when actually printed by the folks at DC Collectibles. Here's the link to their offer: www.shopdcentertainment.com/category/dc+collectibles/prints.doAnd last but not least, the original article from Newsarama (so I remain true to my general rule of keeping all my sources linked here): www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=47134

Newsarama has a good article on the July 2012 sales charts, with a few gems that I thought would be good to note here. - DC led the industry for both Retail and Unit share, something they had struggled with prior to the New52.
- The total for all comics publishers was 22% better in July 2012 than in July 2011.
- Year to date sales (Jan-July 2012) were nearly 21% better than the same period one year ago.
- The Flash came in at #29 for the month and Teen Titans (with Bart) came in at #34 for July, still respectable when noting they placed well ahead of such Marvel titles as Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, Captain Marvel #1, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Daredevil.
For the full story, follow this link: www.newsarama.com/comics/july-2012-comic-book-sales-charts.htmlWith DC in particular and the overall comics industry in general showing an uptick at this late stage of the game in the New52/AvX era, it could be considered a plus overall for the changes. That's a hard pill to swallow for those of us who are still looking for Wally, Donna and others...and hopefully we will still see them before long. The changes were made to bring in new readers, and it appears that is what may be happening here...that being said I'd love to hear some other folks' thoughts on this subject.

Wow! I missed that issue - and I'm amazed both that you found it and that it carried that story. Wonder if M&B read that one before adding that into continuity this time around?
