Thanks to Newsarama & Comic Book Resources for live coverage of the DC Entertainment All Access: DC NOW! Panel, which covered a wide range of topics from the New52. Near the very end of the panel, Brian Buccellato came up to the mike, with the following (from Newsarama's live feed): Buccellato says Flash #0 will explore who Barry is, "and why he's the guy who always needs to do the right thing." Buccellato: "And there is no Wally in this run at all, I'm sorry." Crowd boos. Buccellato also implies that Flash might be teaming with the Rogues against Gorilla Grodd's army. That's it. No Q&A! There is a slightly different version from CBR, as noted here: Buccellato then told the audience that he and Francis Manapul were not changing Barry Allen’s origins but will build up, “Side of Barry Allen you’ve never seen before.” Then 350 billion gorillas are going to attack Central City, so the odds are not in his favor,” Buccellato said about issue #13 as the audience laughed. The “Flash Annual” Rogues storyline will also tail into the gorilla invasion, Buccellato said. And there is no Wally in this run, I’m sorry,” Buccellato added as the audience groaned. Here's the link to the full articles from Newsarama: www.newsarama.com/comics/sdcc-2012-all-access-dc-now.html...and the article from CBR: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=39726

I believe so - not specifically confirmed but I believe the Rogues pictured here are Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heat Wave, Weather Wizard and Glider. Looks like they are all with Barry, going up against Grodd.

I think a series based on that Earth would draw a lot of fans, without a doubt!

That's an excellent question. I do think people would accept an unpowered Wally...at first. Whether that would start a secret countdown in fans' minds to a hoped-for power-up, I don't know. Still, that is an interesting idea.

You have a real point...but I'm hoping there is yet something that could happen here. I can think of a couple of possibilities:
1. Wally has been lost in the Speed Force and forgotten due to that fact - and he suddenly reappears in the effort to save Iris (or he even provides the "save" for Iris in the first place).
2. Wally is here in the New52 and is the reason Barry finally is willing to go back into the Speed Force and risk the rescue effort for Iris. He accompanies Barry (or jumps in to the Speed Force when Barry opens up that "hole" by running so fast). As with Turbine, he someone is affected by the Speed Force and gains power...but unlike Turbine receives a power set closer to that of Barry's.
I don't know that either of those would work...but I'm hoping there are other ideas that COULD work in continuity. I really hope Wally isn't completely out here...but we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, all ideas are welcome here!

I like the South Park idea for the lulz. My son suggested we put a cape and cowl on Wally - they'd bring him back immediately if we just called him Bat-Flash. Still, I'd love to have a storyline that would make sense in the New52. I know that Manapul and Booch referenced a plan they had, but never provided the details publicly. I'm not that good a storyline guy so I'd fail miserably at the task...still, I'm hoping we can get some suggestions here to pass along...not that they would be taken, but you never know. After all, just look at how Gail Simone got her start - and she is now counted (rightfully so) among the very best.

I seriously doubt there is anyone on this site that would not like to see the return of Wally West in some fashion. Whether you are a fan of the present series (I certainly am) or not, I find it hard to believe that bringing Wally back in some manner would somehow be a problem.
(In other news, there is going to be one more Bat-series in the New52, just announced, about a duck and a chicken that will patrol the barnyard wearing dark costumes and muttering something about lost parents). jk
The real question to me is - how to bring Wally back in a way that makes sense within the framework of the New52? Yes, we can certainly write him in through the use of another one of the multiple Earths - that's sort of the explanation for Young Justice. But, is that the best solution?
This thread is for your thoughts, and even for links to any fanfics you wish to provide as a solution. If you were to bring Wally back in the New52 - what would be the storyline? How would you do this without killing off other characters or rebooting the continuity? I don't have any great prizes - but I do promise to Tweet the present creative team with the best ideas from this forum. I believe it can be done - I'd just love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Both stories were GREAT! I LOL'd at "Blinding Them With Science" and enjoyed the reactions (particularly how Roscoe handled the situation) in "Processing". There are a lot of folks who particularly care for one character or another - there are few who can get into the head of that character and write in that character's voice so well. Thanks for sharing the links!

If you haven't kept up with FOSTER by Brian Buccellato, you are certainly missing a great series that is rapidly becoming a phenomenon. The direct edition of issue #1 comes out this month, but if you want to get ahead of the game go to: www.brianbooch.com To be able to order digital copies of ALL ISSUES from #1 through #4, hard copies of issues #3 and #4...and both hard and digital copies of the Anthology. UPDATE: The digital copies of #1-#4 are available for $1.99 each, and the Anthology is available in TWO digital formats...individual stories for 99 cents or the whole works (including ALL variant covers in digital format) for $6.99. Go ahead, check it out and come back to the rest of this story...I'll wait... Let's talk about that anthology...with an impressive list of creators. Take a look at the line up of stories/creators: BOUND Written by Brian Buccellato Art by Steve Buccellato LEGACY Written by Troy Peteri Art by Jason Copland KING & QUEEN Written by Mike Johnson Art by Aaron Gillespie THE FARE Written by Kyle Higgins Art by Rod Reis MANIFEST DESTINY Written by Vince Hernandez Art by Noel Tuazon DOUBLE BILL Written by Robert Napton Art by Dan Smith PARTNERS Written by Sterling Gates Art by Hector Collazo UNNATURAL SELECTION Written by Eric Wallace Art by Don Hudson FORGIVE ME Written and Finishes by Paris Buccellato Layouts by Karl Altstaetter Steve Buccellato is Brian's brother...and Paris is Brians young son, who has both written and done the finishes on a short story to add to the anthology. This is definitely worth checking out - just head over to the website and take a look!

Thanks to Speedforce for the link to the Newsarama interview with Manapul and Buccellato. This is a must-read interview, with teases for what happens with Flash #0 (with the updated origin for Barry) and beyond ("War is coming to Central City"). Frankly, the best part for me was learning that this creative team is staying put...especially given so many changes in other titles. Here's what M&B have planned for the future... I miss them too. It is good to see at least a New52 version of Bart in Teen Titans and the New52 Jay Garrick in earth 2, but I miss not only Wally but also Max Mercury and Johnny and Jesse Quick. Hopefully we will see them all at some point in time.
